We had fun checking out the market and found some different grains and things that we don't see in Mozambique.
This is a huge volcanic crater that has many geothermal sites.
We heard a lot about the flamingoes at Lake Nakuru, but when we arrived we found out most of them had left because of the flooding in the area. This is rainy season and it has been raining more than usual. On the way back to Nairobi we passed Lake Elementaita and found a community that grants access to the lake. Here we are starting out on our walk with our guide who said it was about 1 km to the lake. Actually, it was about 3 km one way and a good workout.
We did see some flamingoes, pelicans, terns, etc. They say sometimes there are a million!
To get to the retreat center where the training was held we had to travel this "road" for awhile. Apparently the road people removed the asphalt to re-do the road and then it started raining. Poor timing. It was a real challenge for many of the participants to arrive. Thankfully most stayed for the week so we didn't have to do this every day.
Here are some shots from the training. The participants caught on fast as they are well educated and they will be great trainers.
This group liked to laugh and have a good time.
Here's a sampling of the beautiful flowers and landscaping in Nairobi.
